Site Updates - May 6th, 2009

There have been several updates to the site in the last 24 hours. First and foremost the database errors that were causing the site to crash at times have been fixed and the database is running smoother than ever.

• New security features have been added to stop spammers and spam bots from creating accounts. In the past a few made it through the check and were able to make spam / obscene posts. The new features will hopefully prevent them from even being able to create a new account now.

• New security features for Admins and Moderators. Admins and Moderators will now be required to change their passwords every 60 days. These usergroups will also have to confirm any moderation actions with their passwords as an extra security measure.

• New Social features! There is now an easier way to create Social Groups, Member & Friends lists, and Photos & Albums. The Gallery is still in place for now but I would like to ask for those wishing to upload photos to the site use the new Photo Album feature instead. We will eventually move everything from the Gallery and remove it.

• The Blog system has been updated and has added many options for customizing your blog.

These are just a few of the major updates while most pertain to the backend of the site. The theme has been updated to fix the posting issues that were caused by the upgrades yesterday. Along with this update came a new system for Google advertisements. There is an add at the top of the page and at the very bottom and should be relavent to the site. The ads may be displaying Public Service type ads at times for a few days until Google finds out what needs to be displayed.

The link to the new Photo Albums is in the Navigation Bar near the top left of the screen, also in the Social drop down in the top right. If you have pictures you would like to upload please do to help us test this new feature! At this time you can upload 5 files at one time. This number will be increased one I can see how well the uploads are working.

Ew, can we change the bookmarks? Say
MudAndDirt, Highlifter, Underground, Rubberdown, youtube. I would never have to type in the address bar again! If not I understand.

Oh yea, can we please make sure that the google adds dont come up in the forums. like under the first post! I HATE THAT!!

They only show on the top and bottom for users. Guests will see one extra in the forums but it is text only and built into the first post. It's not like the ones under the first post, I can't stand that either!

I downloaded some photos but it would not let me download but those 3. It said fatal error not enough memory!
